On June 22nd – 25th, the Irie Foundation and Miami Beach will come together once again to host the annual weekend-long party: Irie Weekend that serves as the unofficial kickoff of summer. The Shelborne Wyndham Grand is to transform into the official Irie Weekend Hotel, where many of the foundation’s events will be taking place.
Founded by DJ IRIE, the Irie Foundation seeks to improve the lives of at-risk youth through mentorship programs and scholarship opportunities. Thanks to the celebrities in attendance and the sheer amount of sponsors, the star-studded event is guaranteed to host one of Miami’s hottest summer parties while also accomplishing its ultimate goal of inspiring and encouraging students to graduate from high school and to attain a higher education. This year’s sponsors include: Aquafina, Jack Daniels, Jose Cuervo, New Amsterdam, Jimmy Johns, Under Armour, South Dade Toyota, Techron and Havoline.
As a preamble to the main event on June 22nd, Irie will “guest chef” on June 15th at Pubbelly for their PB Burger Series. The beloved gastropub will be releasing a new burger that has been created by a different personality every Wednesday beginning this week through the end of July. First up on the chopping block: DJ IRIE. His burger will include avocado and mango chutney all blended with jerk seasoning. For every purchase of a DJ IRIE burger, a dollar will be donated to the Irie Foundation.
Beginning on Wednesday June 22nd, Jamie Foxx will be hosting the Irie Foundation #InspIRIE Dinner Gala at the Irie Weekend Hotel.
On Thursday June 23rd, LPGA Pro Paula Pearson-Tucker will be helping the Irie Foundation students perfect their golf game at the #InspIRIE Kids Golf Clinic. This event offers the chance to get to know the students with a meet and greet ceremony as well as lunch at the Miami Beach Golf Club.
The Thursday festivities continue into the evening, where the Irie Weekend Hotel will be hosting the IWXII VIP-Kick Off Concert with a live performance by AKON.
Friday June 24th is another action-packed day, beginning with the 12th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament at Miami Beach Golf Club. Celebrity guests from previous years include Alonso Mourning, Nina Agdal, Reggie Bush, Omar Benson Biller, Ne-Yo, Austin Mahone, Timbaland, Natalie La Rose and Pitbull.
Let the fun carry over into Friday night’s event at LIV nightclub where DRU HILL will be performing live.
On Saturday, the IWXII BBQ Bash will be held poolside at the Irie Weekend Hotel from 12pm to 5pm. Later in the evening, E11even nightclub will be hosting the official closing of Irie Weekend 2016.
