Haute 100: Find Out Who Will Be Joining the Cast of Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Shades of Blue’
With about 20 years in the entertainment industry, Haute 100 lister Jennifer Lopez is not slowing down anytime soon. It was recently announced her new hit show will see a fresh face. If you’re a fan of Breaking Bad, well it’s time to get excited. Breaking Bad alum Anna Gunn is joining the cast of Jennifer Lopez’s NBC crime drama Shades of Blue as a recurring guest-star.
Gunn is slated to play an up-and-coming councilwoman, who is running for mayor of the city of New York. Gunn’s character was also once a protégé of Lt. Wozniak (Ray Liotta), who also bended the law with Harlee (Jennifer Lopez’s character) and their corrupt-cop crew. In a description provided by the network, the second season of Shades of Blue will showcase “the details of her meteoric rise and her much darker and Machiavellian side comes to the fore.”
Gunn is slated to guest-star in least eight of 13 episodes, making her debut in the season premiere. Production on season two has already began in New York on Wednesday, and the show will return to the air midseason.
Shades of Blue series premiered Jan 7th. Since its air date, the show has delivered NBC’s first Thursday 10-11 p.m. ET time period wins with in-season regular programming over original competition on ABC and CBS since March 2010 in 18-49 and since March 2008 in total viewers. It averaged 11.2 million viewers.
In a statement released by the network, following the season finale, NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke, said, “We want to thank Jennifer, who is the hardest working woman we know, for her incredible efforts as both the star and producer of this show, as well as well as our other amazing producers and cast for all their tireless work in creating one of the most compelling dramas on television today. We’re so excited to find out where this story will lead and have them raise the stakes even higher in what we know will be a fantastic second season.”
