Gaucho Guru Francis Mallmann Hosts Grilling Classes at Los Fuegos
More than ever, people are about experiences. Really living and enjoying things above and beyond the ordinary. Dad’s no different, so a chance to grill with world-renown Argentine chef, Francis Mallmann might just be at the top of his dream-Father’s Day list—even if he doesn’t already know it yet.
Already a big name in the food world, Chef Mallmann became even more famous when he demonstrated his famous “Gaucho Grilling” technics on the picturesque Argentine Patagonia in an episode on the first season of Chef’s Table. The show is Netflix’s exquisitely produced program documenting the life and inspiration of one of the world’s top chef’s in each episode.
Until recently you’d have to head down to South America to try one of his three famous restaurants, 1884 Francis Mallmann in the Argentine wine region of Mendoza; Patagonia Sur, in Buenos Aires; and the Hotel & Restaurant Garzon in Uruguay.
With the opening of Mallmann’s first US restaurant at the Faena Hotel called Los Fuegos, Miamians have finally gotten a taste of what the chef’s fire-based restaurants are all about. Their asado brunches give diners a miniature open-fire experience by delivering chicken, sausage, steak and prawns on small sizzling grills placed in the center of the table to be enjoyed family-style. Pizzas, breads and other foods are also made in wood-burning ovens to give everything the signature, smoky taste Mallmann fans have come to expect.
For an even deeper inside look the restaurant is offering classes on Father’s Day (June 19) with the master himself. In case you’ve already got plans, there are additional dates on July 16th and August 20th. Tickets are $285 and include a grilling lesson, a special lunch and an autographed copy of Mallmann on Fire, the chef’s best-selling cookbook. Call reservations +1 786 655 5600 for more information.
