It is no secret that New York is home to some of the world’s top restaurants. People flock from all corners of the globe to visit the city not only for it’s sights, but as a culinary destination. The incredible diversity and competitive quality in the cuisine here makes it a melting pot unlike any other. It comes as no surprise that at the World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards New York City outperformed every other city in the United States.

An impressive four New York City restaurants made it onto this year’s list. The third best restaurant in the world was awarded to none other than New York’s Eleven Madison Park. The seasonal tasting menu led by chef Daniel Humm moved up two spaces from their ranking at No.5 last year. The second highest-ranking restaurant in the city belongs to Le Bernardin. Even though it fell from No.18 last year to No.24 this year, Parisian chef Eric Ripert is still acknowledged for his exceptional contemporary cuisine.

Perhaps the most celebrated New York newcomer to the list is the quaint Lower East Side restaurant Estela. For its first time ever on the World’s 50 Best it secured spot No.44. The buzzy spot headed by Thomas Carter and Ignacio Mattos serves cuisine inspired by the Mediterranean, and prepared with a personal approach that integrates distinct flavors of New York. The last, but certainly not least, New York restaurant on the list is Blue Hill at Stone Barns. The No.48 eatery located in Pocantico Hills upstate New York has no menu and features the fruitful resources of the Hudson Valley.
