London’s Sketch Transforms Into Immersive Floral Installation
Sketch has become a London staple made famous for their innovative and quirky décor, dishes and artist installations. The Mayfair venue provides an upscale experience while remaining true to their artistic roots. Any time you go to the creative Alice in Wonderland-esque watering hole, you can expect to encounter an entirely different experience. This time around, Sketch has outdone itself with a mesmerizing collaboration with four of London’s leading florists.
“This flower show is what Sketch is about; bringing together creative minds with different styles under the same roof,” the restaurant’s founder and owner Mourad Mazouz told Dezeen.
“The project fits perfectly with how Sketch is often described, an Alice in Wonderland journey as you wander from room to room, and in this case from garden to garden.”
These talented creative have transform the venue’s multiple sections into flower-filled installations that will coincide with this week’s Chelsea Flower Show. Sketch has reinvented the long-standing English tradition to create what they have called the Mayfair Flower Show.
While they are certainly re-inventing the flower show concept, the installations will remain true to Britain. Each one is poised to celebrate the British countryside, featuring only plants that can be found in the United Kingdom.
You will find installations from JamJar, The Flower Appreciation Society, By Appointment Only and Carly Rogers Flowers to adorn the walls of specified Sketch sections. As always, Sketch has gone above and beyond to even include a floral-inspired lunch menu featuring flowers in all three courses, a floral afternoon tea, and a specially devised cocktail made using rose liqueur.
“I feel all four installations work independently and are so magical that you forget the space they’re in,” Mazouz added.
“At the same time, the gardens only exist because of the room they are in. If you think with this project that each room is a landscape, the installations by all four florists explore their relationship with the building.”
The Mayfair Flower Show will be on view until May 29th at 9 Conduit St.
