On Thursday, March 3rd, popular satellite radio company SiriusXM announced newly re-elected Mayor Philip Levine will host “The Mayor,” a limited-run show. The six-week run will begin at 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 8.

“The Mayor” is slated to be a program that will engage Mayor Levine’s fellow elected officials in a candid dialogue regarding key issues involved in leading the country’s cities and states. The topics will range from crime to the environment to the underreported challenges of improving infrastructure around the country. The 53-year-old mayor will also get to know these leaders on a personal level, discovering what drives people to “take the plunge” and seek public office.

In a statement, Mayor Levine said, “I’m a huge fan of SiriusXM programming and I’m thrilled to start this new adventure with them. I want my new show to get listeners excited about the insiders’ perspective on everyday government decision-making, as well as the personal side of people who are leaving their footprint on society.

According to SiriusXM, on March 8th, “The Mayor” will debut with a bipartisan, roundtable discussion with Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer (D) and Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett (R), as well as a one-on-one conversation with music producer and 19-time Grammy Award winner Emilio Estefan about his beloved hometown of Miami Beach and how both he and wife Gloria Estefan have advocated for keeping music a thriving part of the city’s culture. And with the nation’s eyes now turning to the all-important swing state of Florida following Super Tuesday, Mayor Levine will also speak with national figures about his home state’s crucial role in the 2016 Presidential election.

In November, Mayor Levine defeated his opponent David Wieder by garnering more than 60 percent of the vote. Following his win, the Boston native, who moved to Miami when he was 10-years-old, told his constitutions public transportation is at the top of his priority list. He said, “I want to push forward with a train system, an actual trolley system. We believe Miami Beach deserves its own public transportation system.”

“The Mayor” will air on SiriusXM Insight (channel 121).
