Essential oils have long been used as topical medicines in many cultures in the east to treat a multitude of skin ailments. For a while, many people in the West believed putting oil on their skin would be harmful, clog pores and create acne. Oils can be used in water, topically on the face, and on pressure points to relieve a multitude of conditions. Below is a list A-Z of the most potent oils and what they can be used to treat. Arborvitae is great as an insect repellant and also aids in healthy cell function.
Tip: This is great added to a spray bottle to protect against a multitude of environmental concerns. Apply also to pulse points for healthy cell function.

Basil works wonders for mental alertness as well as muscle and joint pain
Tip: For great focus, add half a lemon into a glass of water and 3 drops of Basil Oil.

Bergamont purifies the skin and aids in emotional wellbeing. It has wonderful emotional benefits in times of anxiety. It aids greatly in the swelling and itchiness of insect bites and stings.  IT is an anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory which makes it great at healing acne and infected pores.
Tip: Add Bergamont to vitamin E if you have very dry skin for a wonderful lotion.

Chamomile promotes a calm disposition and also healthy immune function.
Tip: Add 2 drops into hot water before bed. Apply to bottoms of feet before bed for a relaxing night of sleep.

Coriander supports clear skin as well as joint and muscle pain.
Tip: Add a few drops to coconut oil and rub on sore muscles or joints. Mix a few drops in water and use as a toner on oily skin to reduce breakouts.

Geranium a lovely fragrance alone, also stimulates healthy skin and hair. Also an insect repellant. It’s astringent properties allow it to regenerate skin. It’s styptic aspects calm inflammation. It boosts circulation, decreases bloating, gets rid of body ordor, scars and blemishes.
Tip: Add a drop of Geranium on a sugar cube, put it in water and allow it to work all it’s magic.

Jasmine is great for a balanced mood.

Tip: Add a drop of Jasmine in your hands, rub them together. Cup the hands over the nose and mouth and breathe deeply. This is also great to add on fine lines and wrinkles before a moisturizer.

Lavender a universal oil is wonderful for calming, skin health and recovery because of it’s soothing nature. It’s antibacterial properties allow it to fight germs and it’s calming scent is said to relax the nervous system, and improve sleep quality.
Tip: A lavender diffuser is great to have in your home, promoting great sleep and a tranquil emotional balance.

Myrrh encourages skin cleansing and is an overall complexion booster.
Tip: Use a cold compress with a few drops of Myrrh oil. Apply it directly to any infected or inflamed area. It is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and helps reduce swelling.

Peppermint is great for respiratory function as well as providing energy and cooling. This is ideal for hot climates. This is also great for soothing nausea. For Sore muscles mix a few drops in vaseline and use as a natural alternative to VapoRub.
Tip: Add 10 drops of peppermint to a full glass of water and gargle. This is a great natural mouthwash. To cool off on a hot day, add one drop on the nape of your neck.

Rose encourages complexion as well as emotional balance. It is called “the ultimate woman’s oil” for it’s reputation of soothing PMS and menopause as well as balancing hormones. It is also antiseptic and a very luxurious way to treat wounds.
Tip: Blend a few drops of Rose Oil with coconut oil and use as a moisturizer all over your body.

Tea Tree is great for acne because it is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiviral.
Tip: Tea tree is also wonderful because it also cools a bit. Add a drop or two into Aloe Gel to soothe a Sunburn.

Ylang Ylang stimulates healthy hair and skin as well as also having a calming effect. Ylang Ylang promotes the release of endorphins, which aids in the calming of anger and irritability. |
Tip: A few drops of Ylang Ylang and lavender together in a bath has so many relaxing benefits, as well as circulatory.
