Standing Ovation for Oscar Carvallo Show at Wine, Women & Shoes
The fifth annual Wine, Women & Shoes South Florida had a record-breaking year raising over $700,000 for the children and families at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. The event was presented by designer shoe label Sergio Rossi, and included a bazaar with designer items—including lots of shoes—and a live runway show from Oscar Carvallo that brought down the house.
Seven-time Emmy Award-winner, Maggie Rodriguez, served as emcee and the event included a fashion show by Oscar Carvallo Paris who debuted his Fall/Winter 2016 collection and latest avant-garde designs, garnering a standing ovation from the crowd. The presentation of the couture designer was extra exciting as Carvallo has a new boutique in Miami’s Design District.
“This year’s event was indeed record-breaking, and I cannot thank our chairs, Criselda Breene and Carola Pimentel, enough. Their support truly helped gather our community’s most charitable and fashionable women all under one roof for a great cause,” said Lucy Morillo, president & CEO, Miami Children’s Health Foundation.
More than 700 ladies enjoyed wine tastings, a luxurious silent auction, and shopping at the exclusive marketplace featuring unique local boutiques. One lucky guest, Jordan Claure, won the “Key to the Closet” special drawing, featuring a Chopard ‘Happy Sport’ white gold and diamond women’s watch valued at $19,770.
During a special moment at the event, Alessandra, a Nicklaus Children’s patient and guest of honor, shared her inspirational story. Alessandra was diagnosed with scoliosis at the age of 10 and has undergone a series of treatments, including a painful surgery, to overcome her condition. She is now 16 years old, and with her spine aligned by rods and screws, she decided to transform her experience into a positive by sharing her incredible journey.
