Whether you are planning to drag your exhausted body up the ramp of Royal Caribbean or slump into the first class seating area of a plane headed for a sandy Grecian beach the time is now for resort wear shopping. Haute Living spoke with Dallas’s own award-winning fashion journalist, Leah Frazier, about her picks for the best fashions this season. Here are her tips for vacation dressing 2016.
Gone are the days where a two-piece bathing suit is considered to be sexy for the resort. Channeling into minimalism and the spring/summer 2016 runway theme of comfortability, one-pieces are now the “new black” with more sexy one-piece swimsuits gracing the retail scene for 2016. Pair fashion’s hottest spring/summer trend with an out-of-the-box cover-up such as the Herve Leger fringe skirt, and you’re taking your resort style to another luxe level.
Off-the-shoulder tops are always indicative of the resort but push the envelope with bold statement prints and patterns this season like this Camilla “Warrior Wanderlust Midriff Frill top.” Opt to pair romantic blouses or tops with a flared or wider legged jean for a relaxed effortless look. Easily dressed up with espadrilles and wedges or dressed down with flats, this is a perfect casual glam look for a resort girl on-the-go.

Off-the-shoulder tops are always indicative of the resort but push the envelope with bold statement prints and patterns this season like a Chloe ombre top. The wide leg is back in in the world of denim but goes once again to the theme of comfortability. Opt to pair romantic blouses or tops with a flared or wider legged jean for a relaxed effortless look. Easily dressed up with espadrilles and wedges or dressed down with flats, it is a perfect casual glam look for a resort girl on-the-go.
This multi-textured look by Zimmerman is the perfect resort piece as it is light, and again effortless but one that is perfect for a day of play if paired with flats or sandals or for a night out on the town when styled with wedged heels. The trend of lace and boho-girl is touched upon in this look to give the mini-dress a flirty modern bohemian vibe that hits on one of the top spring/summer themes for 2016. Again, the ease of looking the part effortlessly and comfortably is the key here as the dress does all the talking, and all that’s left are simple accessories and you’re ready to go.

Caftans always get two thumbs up for the resort. Paired with an oversized hat and shades, it is one of the most effortless looks for the resort while doubling as both a coverup and casual outfit for the day. To take your resort style to the next level, opt for one of spring/summer 2016’s mega trends: bold geometric prints and shapes. Only for the daring, you will definitely be “seen” on the scene with this pop of color and all-over geometric caftan like Tylar by Trina Turk.
