Dallas: What You Need To Know About The Bernadette Schaeffler Collection

Although football is the state religion of Texas, shopping is a hobby that Dallasites have taken well beyond the amateur level and brought it to a professionalism unrivaled by almost anything else we do. Shopping is a luxurious way of life here that few outsiders ever really understand. Who even shops at Neiman’s downtown without nibbling the famous popovers and strawberry butter? And how many malls in other areas of the country boast the valet parking of North Park?

In recent years Dallas has moved away from the mall and created tiny shopping Meccas in strategic places around town. One of these is the Design District located in the shadow of downtown at Hi Line Drive and Slocum. A visit to the area that was once the Trinity River floodway reveals some of the best, most exclusive shopping in Big D (sorry Northpark). It’s enough to make a seasoned shop-a-holic shed one golden tear of appreciation.

Within the Design District is the Bernadette Schaeffler Collection, a space filled with breathtaking, luxury decor for the home. Exclusive antique items, unique vases and barware, and furniture are designed by Ms. Schaeffler and are inspired by the multicultural experiences of her childhood in Germany. There is an elegance  as well as a touch of whimsy to her designs that makes any room feel welcoming and approachable without sacrificing style and beauty.

We were absolutely smitten with these on the rocks glasses and decanter that are etched with our favorite skyline.
