This week was a busy one in Dubai, with the Swan Lake Acrobatic, which continues through Friday. Also the city’s dining scene was busy with celebrity chef Jason Atherton’s new restaurant opening and the Dine Around Dubai event.

The fun of Dubai Summer Surprises continued this week with the Swan Lake Acrobatic Ballet, which was performed by the Great Chinese State Circus. The Swan Lake Acrobatic Ballet tells the story of Swan Lake through a combination of breathtaking Chinese acrobatics with ballet and opera.
The event started on Thursday and runs through Saturday at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The show has already traveled through Europe, performing for royalty in the U.K. and Monaco.
Dine Around Dubai

Samantha Wood, better known as the FooDiva, held the August edition of Dine Around Dubai on Monday. The event was called Fun is the New Fine Dining, and diners who were lucky enough to pick up tickets for it enjoyed hand-selected dishes from five of the city’s best high-end restaurants in a single night. Each of the five restaurants offer a different course and a different type of food. The night started with a glass of Ruinart Brut champagne.

Jason Atherton’s New Restaurant Opens

Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton, who has trained under celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, opens his newest restaurant on Friday. Marina Social is Dubai’s edition of his social-themed restaurants, which are located throughout the world in some of the biggest and most popular cities like London, Hong Kong, and New York. Atherton sees the dining industry as being transformed from “fine dining” to “social dining,” with his goal being to create a social atmosphere around exquisite cuisine.
Marina Social is located at the InterContinental Dubai Marina and serves up a British-Mediterranean inspired menu filled with tapas-style dishes. Diners can watch their food being prepared in the open kitchen and dessert bar. The restaurant is Atherton’s 17th globally.
