Steven Klein + François Nars = Beauty Bliss
It’s always exciting when great talents come together. SO you can imagine our response when we got word that fashion photographer Steven Klein would be doing a limited edition collection with NARS. Unique packaging, colors and cases influenced by Klein will define the collection. His signature photography style, which is characterized by cool colors, mildly clinical settings, masks and kinky overtones, can bee seen on the packaging.
“I’ve always had the highest regard for François’ work,” says Klein. “He is the pioneer of moving from one of the greatest makeup artists to creating great makeup. It is super exciting for me to collaborate using my photographs and joining them with his cosmetic genius.”
The pairing makes so much sense since Fraçois Nars is known for being on the cutting-edge of make-up. And the colors and combinations are bold. A blush called Vengeful Dual-Intensity Blush combines two colors that are far from the usual pink and rose one usually associates with blush. Instead it offers up a champagne shimmer and a deep red that when combined, give just the right color for the cheek without giving into the expected.
When asked about Klein and his decision to join forces, NARS Founder & Creative Director, François Nars said, “His work defies the rules of photography—it’s arresting and provocative. It pushes boundaries and elicits a reaction. I like that. He perfectly embodies the spirit of NARS.”
Lipsticks will be available in a creamy new formula in the “Limited Edition Killer Shine Lipstick” which will glide on and gleam all night. Colors tend to be towards new or very, very bold in plums and reds. It’s hard not to see Klein’s love of glamour and the night reflected in the collection. All the polishes and shadows sparkle as metallics that are most at home in the dark of night.
Before you look for it, just know the set won’t be available until October 15 at NARS boutiques, and then at Sephora and department stores on November 1st. narscosmetics.com
