Haute Secrets Dubai: Dusty’s

Seems like there is at least one new restaurant opening daily in Dubai, and one of the newest is Dusty’s, an all-day dining concept that transforms the diner from one thing to another throughout the day.

During the daytime, Dusty’s bills itself as a deli, but by nighttime, the diner has become a wine bar. According to Dusty’s website, the restaurant is a “whole lot more in between” as well. It’s located in the Dubai International Financial Centre, and the concept is very family-centric with a main marketing message of “Fun. Personal. Unique.”

Aside from the transformation that happens throughout the day, Dusty’s also combines several different cultures and tradition, not only into the food, but also into the ambiance and design of its space. It’s designed to be an extension of Dusty Tourani the man, and the inspiration comes from his travels all around the world. They call the restaurant a “‘global-family-feel’ concept that expresses all the love that has been put into the space.”

The interior is rustic and mostly taken up by a large bar counter. Dusty hopes to encourage mingling and networking after work hours and offers a number of house beverages. There’s also an eye-catching collage on the walls, which serves as a conversation piece.

Dusty’s menu covers a broad range of cuisines, from Italian to Chinese, Mexican, Japanese, and Latin American. The restaurant also offers some local favorites, and because it covers such a large number of cuisines, it can be considered a melting pot of both traditions and cultures.

For breakfast, Dusty’s diners can start the day off with an Angus steak with roasted tomatoes and scrambled eggs or the restaurant’s Business Breakfast, which comes with a bread basket, granola, or croissant and the choice of eggs benedict, a Belgian waffle with chocolate sauce, or scrambled eggs. The diner also offers gourmet coffees and specialized teas paired with freshly baked pastries.

Because of its location in the DIFC, Dusty’s caters to a lot of businesspeople, so it also offers a Business Lunch for those who want a quick two- or three-course meal. Among the selections on the Business Lunch menu are grilled tiger prawns with yuzu and soy butter and beef tenderloin with sweet chili soy, sesame seeds, and steamed rice. There’s also a chocolate brownie with pralines and ice cream for dessert. Dinner at Dusty’s is a casual affair with a focus on leisure.

The restaurant’s signature dishes include lobster tacos, crispy duck salad with pomegranate dressing, and Dusty’s Red Chicken, which is baby chicken marinated in yogurt and coriander.
