News | September 14, 2015

This week in Boston, there are lots of reasons to celebrate. From a fall gala to the Russian Grand Ballet’s performance of Swan Lake, here’s a look at some of the city’s hautest happenings this week:

Beer lovers have a reason to celebrate Wednesday night at Post 390 as the Back Bay restaurant welcomes Sam Adams founder Jim Koch for an intimate multi-course beer dinner paired with Executive Chef Eric Brennan’s dishes. The proceeds from the dinner will benefit Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream, a program designed to assist budding entrepreneurs. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and reservations are recommended.

On Thursday night, Spottswoode Winery of California is coming to Legal Sea Foods in Boston’s Park Square for a four-course wine dinner. The event, which is being held in the gorgeous wine cellar that holds 10,000 bottles of wine, will feature dishes like pan-seared fillet of haddock with littleneck clams in a shitake cream sauce paired with Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc and steak au poivre with fingerling potatoes and chanterelle mushrooms paired with Spottswoode Cabernet. The dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. and reservations are required.

Over at Bar Boulud at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, they are welcoming Jack’s Abby Brewing of Framingham on Thursday night to the Back Bay property for a beer dinner. The four-course Taps and Tasting Beer Dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will feature dishes created Bar Boulud’s Chef de Cuisine Aaron Chambers paired with seasonal beer selections from the award winning brewery.

On Thursday at noon at Downtown Crossing, there will be a private topping off ceremony of the new Millennium Tower at 1 Franklin Street. The event is part of the two-year long construction period of the former Filene’s Basement into a 60-story $374 million luxury residential building. Residents will be able to start moving in next summer. Millennium Tower Boston has already sold more than 80 percent of its 442 luxury residences. Roche Bros. has recently opened its first supermarket in downtown Boston next door, Primark opened a retail shop here just last week and James Beard award winning celebrity chef Michael Mina will open a Japanese izakaya next year. Mayor Marty Walsh is expected to attend the event on Thursday with Millennium Partners’ Christopher Jeffries.

On Saturday, September 19, HomeStart’s seventh annual fall gala will be held at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. The fundraiser starts at 6 p.m. and includes a night of cocktails, dinner, live music, speakers, and live and silent auctions. HomeStart provides permanent housing for homeless families of greater Boston.
