Haute 100 MIA: See Karolina Kurkova Pose for W’s WET Deck
Haute 100 Miami-lister Karolina Kurkova modeled for W Hotels’ WET Deck Collection. Today, W and Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) designers Misha NoNoo, Deszo by Sara Beltran and Isa Tapia announced the launch of this exclusive capsule collection, which is comprised of one piece from each of the three designers, inspired by W’s verdant Puerto Rican reserve, W Vieques.
Of course, the designers went there themselves last summer to get inspiration to design these very pieces including a sunglow abstract print cotton voile belted kaftan by womenswear designer Misha NoNoo; a handwoven Mexican bracelet with a tiger’s eye shark fin and marquise diamond accent by accessories designer Sara Beltran of Dezso; and a braided natural jute, sunset-inspired espadrille from shoe designer Isa Tapia’s Playa Line.
Misha NoNoo explained her approach. “When preparing for a trip, I look for easy, packable pieces that are versatile enough for the beach but can transition to casual evening affairs. I designed this cotton, voile-belted kaftan to help women look and feel flirty and fun, while maintaining a sense of softness and ease. The color inspiration came from the ephemeral hues from the Puerto Rican sunset
Ideally, customers would wear WET Deck, around W Hotels’ pool areas—which are not surprisingly named WET. W Miami Beach’s own property boasts two pool decks perfect for shifts and cover-ups like these. The W South Beach, W Fort Lauderdale are also the only two spots that you will find the collection in their chic hotel stores. Once online destination has them too —the W’s online hotel store. The designers are part of CFDA’s Fashion incubator, which is a business development program created to foster the next generation of talent. The program is based in New York City. Only a select few enter the competitive program, and they are offered mentoring, reduced price studio space and business introductions to get their careers off the ground.
