What to Do This Weekend in Miami: July 17th – 19th
Another weekend has come in Miami, and with so many options to choose from, sometimes it’s hard to figure out exactly how you should spend it. With another edition of Swim Week upon us, this particular weekend is one to enjoy — so stick with the theme and stay by the water for haute parties, dinners and pampering like only the Magic City could host:
FRIDAY, JULY 17TH
10 PM, MIAMI BEACH: “Swim Week ‘Hot as Hell’ Party”
When it comes to Swim Week, even those of us who aren’t models want to see what it’s all about. New this year, and open to the public, Sharleen Ernster — a swimsuit designer with history working for hot brands like Guess and Victoria’s Secret — will debut her very first solo collection in none other than the elite Soho Beach House. With DJ Alexandria taking over the DJ booth, it’s worth it to stay til the end; rumor has it that a surprise guest might even be making a special appearance. Soho Beach House is located at 4385 Collins Avenue. The party will run from 10 PM until Midnight.
SUNDAY, JULY 19TH
11 AM, SOUTH OF FIFTH: “Exhale Spa: Swim Week Edition”
Take a momentary break from Swim Week and head to Nikki Beach for a day of pampering and relaxation that exudes the SoFi vibe. After another fashion show, pull out your yoga mat and join yogi Marisol Tamez for a morning class, followed food, drinks, mini-spa treatments of manicures and acupuncture, and even a glam braid bar. Nikki Beach is located at One Ocean Drive. The event will run from 11 AM to 4 PM, and complementary tickets can be reserved online here.
2 PM, MIAMI BEACH: “Swim Week Pool Party”
If you weren’t already planning to spend your Sunday at The Broken Shaker (which, why wouldn’t you?), you definitely should now. Amping up their weekly outdoor extravaganza is a showcase of haute new swim and resort wear from some of Miami’s hottest local designers, like I Shien 365. With sounds by Legs Benedict, Dude Skywalker, and Gooddroid — and free drinks from 2 – 4 PM — it will be one pool party you won’t want to miss. The Broken Shaker is located in the Freehand Miami, at 2727 Indian Creek Drive. The party will run from 2 PM to 8 PM.
4:30 PM, FORT LAUDERDALE: “Summer Escape Dinner Cruise”
Departing from Tranquility Marina in Fort Lauderdale, Windridge Yacht Charters, Fort Lauderdale’s premier private yacht company, is celebrating summer with a Mediterranean-inspired dinner cruise designed to impress even the most sophisticated palate. While watching the sunset, enjoy a gourmet dinner — one that includes flatbread asiago, Mediterranean chicken kabobs, chef-inspired tabouli, Miso-glazed salmon and more — and drink and dance the night away with haute drinks and a live DJ. The “Summer Escape Dinner Cruise” departs from Tranquility Marina, located in Fort Lauderdale, at 2950 NE 32nd Avenue. The cruise boards at 4:30 PM and stays at sea from 5 PM to 8 PM. The “Dinner with Deluxe Bar Package” can be purchased here, for $109.90 per person.
