MIA: Inside The Star-Studded ‘Irie Weekend’ Charity Event
One of Miami’s most anticipated summer events is brought to you by the NBA’s official DJ for the Miami Heat, DJ IRIE. The 11th annual three-day action packed charity event, Irie Weekend, kicked off June 18th celebrating over a decade of giving back to the community.
Founded by DJ IRIE, the Irie Foundation sets out to improve the lives of at-risk youth through mentorship programs and scholarship opportunities. With the amount of sponsors and celebrities in attendance the star studded event is sure to throw one of the hottest parties in Miami while still accomplishing their goal of encouraging students to graduate high school, attain a higher education and grow into successful adults. Merill Lynch, Evian, Jet Blue, Target, Bacardi, Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey and the Miami Heat Charitable Fund are just some of the huge names that sponsored Irie Weekend to benefit the Foundation.
The event started Thursday with the #InspIrie Kids Golf Clinic at the Miami Beach Golf Club with special guest Austin Mahone. Children of Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami, The Motivational Edge and South Florida After School All Stars, all youth organizations and partners of the Irie Foundation, got have some one on one time with the teen pop star.
That night a celebrity dinner was hosted in honor of DJ Irie. After that, an exclusive VIP concert hosted by Hublot went down at the Kimpton Surfcomber or The Irie Weekend Hotel (changed for the occasion) with performances by pop and R &B singer Natalie La Rose and hip hop singer Wyclef Jean.
That Friday, June 19th, kicked off the most sought after event, the JEEP 11th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament. The tournament might be one of the most star-studded tournaments around wit celebs like Nina Agdal, Haute 100 member Alonzo Mourning, Reggie Bush, Omar Benson Biller and more all in attendance.
Following the event Stoli Elit hosted the after party at LIV nightclub featuring Jermaine Dupri. Closing the weekend, Saturday Mountain Dew presented the Irie Weekend BBQ Beach Bash with a special appearance from Mr. 305 himself, Pitbull. After that Beck’s brewing company presented DJ Irie’s birthday bash hosted by Timbaland with music by Lil Jon.
Other stars who came to show their support include Orange is the New Black star, Dascha Polanco, NSYNC member Chris Kirkpatrick, Miami Heat player Hassan Whiteside and tight end of the Miami Dolphins Dion Sims.
