Inside AmEx’s Stunning New Centurion Lounge at MIA
The new Centurion Lounge at Miami International Airport marks a departure for airport lounges with a whole new level of luxe. Enter in a cozy, organic entrance complete with living wall before passing into the worldly lounge expressly for card holders. Inside, there is cuisine by Michelle Bernstein, cocktails from renown mixologist Jim Meehan, complimentary massages and manicures from Exhale Spa, a soundproof kids area, and work spaces with high-speed wifi.
While the idea of a VIP airport lounge is not exactly a new one, The Centurion Lounge takes the concept to new heights, marking the starkest difference yet between what’s happening in the main terminal, and what’s going on in the cloistered area behind the door. “We’re elevating airport dining by creating a restaurant-like culinary experience,” said Chef Michelle Bernstein. “I didn’t design a menu for an airport; I designed a menu that has the same passion, quality and South Miami flavors that I serve locals and visitors every day.”
To celebrate the lounge’s grand opening, American Express ambassador Emmy Rossum came out for the party along with Chef Bernstein and a selection of who’s who in Miami including Yolanda Berkowitz, Marysol Patton, and Tara Solomon. They enjoyed a sampling of the new dishes and drinks that will be available set to tunes by DJ Danny Daze.
The new lounge is the fifth Centurion Lounge in the United States, joininglocations in Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS), Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Getting in is easy if you have an American Express. Centurion Lounges is complimentary for consumer, Business and Corporate Platinum Card and Centurion® Members, and their immediate family or up to two travel companions. Other American Express Credit and Charge Card Members may purchase a one-day pass at The Centurion Lounge for $50.
