Christopher Kane To Host Serpentine Party
British designer Christopher Kane has been named as the host of this year’s Serpentine Gallery annual summer party. Taking place on Thursday in London’s Kensington Gardens, the event will also be co-hosted by Alexa Chung, architect Zaha Hadid and Michael Bloomberg.
“I have admired the Serpentine and its amazing work and reputation for many years now and have always loved going to the summer party,” said Kane. “We have always used bold colours in our collections, so I’m very much looking forward to seeing SelgasCano’s colourful and vibrant vision of the pavilion, and to see it represented on such a vast scale.” The party will mark the 15th anniversary of of the Serpentine Pavilion Commission at Kensington Gardens and guests will be treated to, among other things, a bright installation by Spanish artitechts José Selgas and Lucía Cano. The funds raised at the event will go towards the gallery exhibitions and commissions program.
Guests at the summer party will be able to take part in a number of games set in the colourful installation, while the musical backdrop for the evening will be provided by British band Spandau Ballet and musician James Righton (formerly of The Klaxons) as well as a set by 2manyDJs, who are bound to ensure that the party continues long into the evening.
Kane has recently been busy with the unveiling of his first London flagship, which debuted back in February. In the spring, the designer celebrated his debut in the capital with his best pals in a star-studded bash that included the likes of François-Henri Pinault, Salma Hayek, Laura Carmichael, Erin O’Connor, Yasmin Le Bon and Nicholas Kirkwood.
