Calling All Fashionistas: This Online Consignment Store Sells Swoon-Worthy Items
If you’re looking for an ultra-chic online luxury consignment store, we have just the marketplace for you.
Launched in 2009, Vestiaire Collective allows people to buy and sell pre-owned luxury pieces. With more than a dozen authenticators and quality inspectors, the online consignment store has a tight authentication policy in place to eradicate risks of consumers purchasing phony luxury items.
Vestiaire Collective caters to three million members, which include both buyers and sellers.
Founded by a team of six people, including CEO Sébastien Fabre, the site was created because Fabre felt there was a need for an online platform that allowed people to purchase and sell luxury pre-owned fashion. In an interview with the New York Times, Fabre said, “We wanted to bring inspiration and also trust: trust on the buyers’ side and probably authority on the sellers’ side.”
The site has been popular in European countries such as France and Great Britain. Just last year, Vestiaire Collective opened the site to Germany, launched a Berlin office as well as expanded across the Atlantic opening an office in the trendy Chelsea neighborhood of New York City.
Vestiaire has about 400 V.I.P. clients internationally and 30 in the U.S. For its crème de la crème clientele, a representative from the company comes to their home, picks up the items and oversees the entire process from start to end.
From Hermès to Chanel Vestiaire, which means “wardrobe,” has impressive fashion stock you’ll never know these plush pieces were secondhand. Additionally, if you have too many clothes, sell the pieces you no longer love and collect some cash in the process.
