Lulu Kennedy Launches Indigo Collection In London
Fashion East founder and all round London fashionista Lulu Kennedy launched her eagerly anticipated Indigo collection for British retailer Marks & Spencer last night. Kennedy, who announced the collaboration back in February, designed the dreamy collection just in time for the summer season, which was inspired by her wanderlust and love of Tulum, Mexico.
“I didn’t want it to just be a holiday collection. I had in the back of my mind that I didn’t want it to be indulgent and just about the clothes I’d wear, I wanted it to be broader – easy pieces that can go into your wardrobe,” said Kennedy of the process of creating the capsule pieces. This isn’t the first time she’s played designer either. As well as running Fashion East, which nurtures and supports emerging London design talent, Kennedy also runs her own label, Lulu & Co. “All the experience I have amassed I’ve tried to feed back to Fashion East. It’s all just really good knowledge to have and this is a completely different ball game,” she explained of her journey to the collection. “The team are so fast at decision-making and I’ve really enjoyed that. You ask for something and a week later the factory has a sample, it’s so gratifying and how it should be, pleasurable.”
Visitors to Britain’s landmark retailer Marks & Spencer will be able to grab a piece of the collection to add to their summer wardrobes, while Kennedy herself already has her sights set on another collaboration with the store in the very near future. “I still can’t believe it, little old me – to be doing this is such a big deal,” she shared of her excitement at the future of her relationship with Marks & Spencer.
