Inside the Frederick Law Olmsted Awards “Hat Luncheon” in Central Park
On May 6, The Women’s Committee and the Board of Trustees of Central Park Conservancy hosted the Thirty-Third Annual Frederick Law Olmsted Awards Luncheon. More than 1,200 guests attended the haute “Hat Luncheon,” all sporting unique and colorful headwear. The event began with a champagne reception and tours of the Conservatory Garden at 11:00 am. The reception was followed by a luncheon and awards ceremony under a large white tent at 12:15pm.
“Central Park truly is one of the wonders of the world and it has never looked better or had a brighter future,” said Karen May, President of the Women’s Committee of Central Park Conservancy. “As the Conservancy celebrates its 35th Anniversary this year, we are so proud of the enduring traditions we have created, like this luncheon, that support the Park and keep it so beautiful for everyone to enjoy!”
The event was fully underwritten by the Benefit Committee, ensuring that every cent of revenue from ticket sales went towards supporting the Conservancy’s mission of park maintenance, restoration, and enhancement. This year, $3.5 million was raised.

All guests also received a special gift from Estée Lauder and a signature umbrella from Wathne, Ltd. Décor featured florals by Andrew Pascoe Flowers, Ltd. and tablecloths by Scalamandré. The haute event was catered by Abigail Kirsch Catering Relationships.
