Experimental Beach Ibiza is Open

Experimental Beach Ibiza, the beachfront restaurant and cocktail bar from the Experimental Group (Joyeux Bordel, Shoreditch), has re-opened for the 2015 season with exciting new ways to revive the soul. Situated within southern Ibiza’s stunning Las Salinas national reserve, this year the Beach will introduce yoga, fresh juices and BBQs, to its much loved offering of locally sourced dining, excellent cocktails and spectacular views of the Island’s majestic sunsets.

There are few better locations to practice sun salutations, and from mid-May Lorena Alegre (Yoga Alliance certified) will be leading weekly hour long Vinyasa yoga sessions on Wednesdays at 11am, 30€ per person. Yoga packages will also be available at 55€ per person and will include a healthy, reenergising meal and a fresh juice or smoothie prepared daily.

Head Chef Alex Larrea has always sought to use the region’s best produce in ways that reference the Experimental Group’s French roots. This year, he will be introducing monthly Beach BBQs, held on the last Tuesday of every month, where guests can enjoy a meal cooked on the josper grill and one of Experimental Beach’s signature cocktails. Alex has also updated the lunch and dinner offerings to include tapas and new dishes such as Ibiza prawn carpaccio with mango vinaigrette and shisho; Black cod marinated in miso, cooked on the josper Grill and served with sautéed pak choy; and Slow cooked suckling pig with caramelized onions and grapefruit.

Experimental Group’s cocktails are inspired by travels and experiences at bars all over the world and are renowned on the global bar scene. Bar manager, Nicolas Baptiste, will oversee  the welcome return of the conch shell sharing punch bowl along with signature 14€ cocktails including the Belza (Orange blossom, Cucumber, Pineapple and Lime juice, Green Tea and Grapefruit syrup, Pink pepper infused Citadelle Gin) and the innovative Mare Verde (Capers, Olive, Seaweed, Ibiza salt, Lime juice and Tonic water with Mare Gin). The extensive wine list is selected by Julia Oudill, head sommelier at London’s Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels, and boasts 200 references including many local Spanish wines at accessible prices.

Designed by award winning French designer, Dorothée Meilichzon (CHZON), Experimental Beach has a bohemian atmosphere with inspiration from the hippy and hedonistic ‘60’s Ibiza. It pays homage to Baudelaire’s Invitation au Voyage with an air of “luxe, calme, and volupte,” or “luxury, peace and pleasure.” Along with the restaurant and bar, Experimental Beach also boasts a clothing and accessories boutique, the Treasure Chest, which will reopen in mid-June.

The music at Experimental Beach combines undertones of rock, jazz, bossa nova and reggae, with sets playing every evening for the striking sunset.

Experimental Beach Ibiza’s opening party will be on 19th May. Follow updates on twitter / Instagram for more details: @ECCBeach
