The Baglioni Hotel in London is giving visitors a chance to sample its Mediterranean roots in a new themed afternoon tea experience, which will incorporate a taste of Italy into its presence in the capital.
Afternoon tea has long been a tradition in London, with several high profile luxury hotels offering an array of British and global teas, together with scones, cakes, clotted cream and finger sandwiches. Now Baglioni seeks to mix cultures in an experience that builds on the British tradition whilst adding some of the finer Mediterranean delights into the mix as well. Visitors to the hotel who book the afternoon tea experience (served daily between 1pm and 5pm) can expect to enjoy Proseco and grilled Mediterranean vegetable sandwiches on focaccia alongside fluffy pastries served with jam and hazelnut spread, not forgetting the exquisite taste of favourite British teas such as Darjeeling Earl Grey. Named The Italian Afternoon Tea, the experience also includes traditional sandwiches, such as cucumber and ricotta, smoked Scottish salmon with cream cheese, chicken and mayonnaise and egg with cream cheese. The Italian additions to the menu see Tiramisú, profitteroles, Capri chocolate cake, Italian lemon meringue tart, “Sfogliatella” napoletana and “Cannoli Siciliani” filled with ricotta and chocolate chips added to the sumptuous spread.
To add to the themed experience, visitors will be able to enjoy their food in the sumptuous setting of the Brunello Lounge, which is brilliantly lit by candelabras, or outside on the Bellavista Terrace, which offers fantastic views of Kensington Gardens. For afternoon tea enthusiasts looking to sample something a little different in the capital, this promises to be an unforgettable and delectable experience.
