Haute 100 Miami Update: Donald Trump Finally Gets Doral’s Key to the City
There was a little "will they or won't they?" involved with Doral Mayor Luigi Boria's awarding of Doral's key to the city to golf complex owner Donald Trump.

The Cadillac Championship kicks off today at Trump National Doral, a day after Doral Mayor Luigi Boria awarded Donald Trump the key to the city. Trump’s bigger kids, Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric were all present when he received the key, and when they inaugurated the Arnold Palmer suite along with the golf legend days before.
In addition to buying and revamping the bankrupt Doral golf complex (rechristened Trump National Doral) to the tune of $250 million, Trump was responsible for bringing the Miss Universe pageant to the city, putting it on the map on a global scale.
“On behalf of the residents of the city of Doral, and on behalf of our city council, to give you the keys of the city of Doral because I think you deserve it. Thank you for what you’ve done,” said Mayor Boria.

“Thank you very much to the city and to the council. We’ve been such great friends,” said Trump. Of course the mayor and the developer’s relationship hasn’t been without it’s rocky times, it’s good to see that hard work prevails and good deeds awarded.
Interestingly enough, Trump is using his success at Doral to back up his political ambitions, and announced on March 4th, he is considering throwing his hat into the Republican nomination ring. “I could do exactly what I did here. I took a piece of property that was really in trouble and made it the hottest resort in the country. I could make this country great again,” said Trump. Stay tuned.
