Phoebe English Launches E-Commerce

British luxury womenswear designer Phoebe English marked the end of January with the opening of her e-commerce store. Now customers eager to get their hands on her coveted creations can order them direct from www.phoebeenglish.com/shop.

A graduate of London’s prestigious Central St.Martin’s School, English has quickly dominated the fashion scene and has become known for her ethereal and dark, romantic pieces. With collections that have already graced the capital’s Dover Street Market space, as well as installations created by the designer for both the London and New York locales of Rei Kawakubo’s store, English is certainly well on her way to cementing her fashion credentials.

Speaking of her desire for an online space, English said that she wanted to create a kind of “cabinet of curiosities.” “I wanted [an online shop] that really reflected the ethos and spirit of…[my] collections, rather than it being just a bog standard online retail space,” she told WWD. The e-commerce extension of English’s brand will initially feature a limited selection of pieces from the designer’s present and past collections, including her gorgeous hand-crafted crowns and headpieces. Other items will include a matte latex pencil skirt and coat made from layers of dress net. As an additional bonus, and to celebrate her expansion into e-commerce, English has also collaborated with furniture designer Sam Edkins on two macramé rubber chairs, which will be sold as one-offs and are a nod to a material that she has previously been fond of in her past collections.
