Brands In London Celebrate Chinese New Year

With the Chinese New Year celebrations already upon us—tomorrow marks the beginning of the festivities—luxury London retailers and other global brands are turning increasingly creative in order to mark the occasion. And with this year being the marked by the ram, inspiration has been rife as to how this symbol has been interpreted.

With red being a potent symbol of Chinese culture and the new start, British brand Mulberry have released a limited edition version of their best-selling mini Cara Delevingne bag, made from ruby red nappa leather. The popular piece, named after the superstar British model, features a tiny stamp of a ram and only 88 models of this particular version have been released. They can be found in luxury department stores Harrods, Galeries Lafayette and in the brand’s stores in London’s New Bond Street and New York’s Spring Street. As an additional way to mark the Chinese New Year, Mulberry has initiated a fun social media campaign, which encourages users to print a ram from their website and take photos of it in different locales. The winning pictures, which must be tagged #InstaRam, will be in with a chance of winning a special prize.

Luxury brand Kenzo has also encouraged Londoners to partake in the festivities by offering visitors to their Mount Street store a chance to pick a lucky red envelope that could contain a discount voucher for their next purchase. Red envelopes are traditionally given as presents to children during the Chinese New Year and are said to bring wealth, luck, health and happiness during the coming year.
