Lululemon Athletica Expands in London

Yoga-lovers of London rejoice, because Lululemon Athletica has opened up in a brand spanking new London location—and more are on the horizon.

Adding to its initial Covent Garden flagship, luxury yoga wear brand Lululemon Athletica has just opened shop at one of London’s most decadent locations. Not far from Sloane Square, the brand’s second store can now be visited at 38-42 King’s Road in Chelsea, with the company also not making secret of the fact that they plan to expand further in the capital. Two more London locations are planned—on Marylebone High Street and in Richmond-upon-Thames—with three more UK locations in the pipeline, set to be announced next month.

The grand opening on Friday 23 January saw Lululemon Athletica treat the lucky few to a morning yoga class and buffet breakfast—true to the form of the brand’s wellness and health-inspired lifestyle. “Having been part of the Chelsea community for the last seven years, the King’s Road was a natural fit for our second store,” said Kristy Maynes, vice president, Europe, to WWD. “Inspired by our ambassadors and the history of Chelsea, the store design elements were curated with a tribute to the local community. The community has been incredibly supportive of our brand, and we look forward to providing highly technical product and a great guest experience in our new space,” she added.

The new 2800 sq.ft space sees Lululemon Athletica take over the reigns from the former occupier of the building, the King’s Road Sporting Club. Nevertheless the brand has paid homage to the previous tenants, and to its own vision, by displaying vintage props of sports gear and old photographs of sporting events. True to Lululemon Athletica’s style, the space is inviting, elegant and lavish with an air of sophistication. As always, the brand is committed to engaging with the local community and will be hosting yoga classes and a running club at the weekends.
