Boutique Hotel: Mystic Hotel is Charming with Culinary Edge
Located in the heart of downtown San Francisco, right next to the Stockton Tunnel, is the culinary-centric Mystic Boutique Hotel. This small boutique, but sleek retreat is the city’s first hotel to be opened by a chef, Charlie Palmer. The Mystic, which offers 82 newly-renovated rooms and suites, has been open for just over two years, making it a fresh choice for visiting food lovers.
Rooms are chic and cozy, with exposed brick walls, crisp white linens, splashy red accents, geometric throws, and marble coffee tables. While guests are encouraged to dine at the Burritt Room + Tavern on the second floor, (one of the perks of staying at the hotel is a complimentary glass of sparkling wine, appetizer, and dessert with purchase of an entree at the Burritt Tavern), they are also invited to experience an in-room foodie treat. Sparkling wine, flower arrangements, fruit and cheese plates, and seasonal quiches can all be delivered to the rooms to enhance any special occasion celebration.
But no stay at the Mystic Hotel is complete without a stop at the Burritt Room + Tavern. The Burritt Room is the hotel’s haute, happening bar that features exceptional craft cocktails and delectable bar bites in a prohibition style setting. The Tavern is a modern steakhouse with intimate booths for a luxurious private dining experience. For a truly original and memorable meal, consider the newly created chef’s table, the BR+Table. Executive Chef Luke Knox will entice your palate and take you on a five-course journey complete with beverage pairings designed by the bar manager Josh Trabulsi. Knox and Trabulsi will present each course and offer a little background on the making of the meal. The menu changes monthly and features a rotating range of local farmers, ranchers, and artists. Everything from the custom-made alder wood table to the hand-crafted pottery (that the dishes are served on) was created locally and specifically for this culinary occasion.
Looking to host a private event? Then the Berlinetta Lounge is the ideal spot. Located on the ground floor of the hotel behind the lobby’s front desk, the saloon-like lounge has event planners to help craft the perfect party, LCD televisions, a mobile bar, and communal tables. The space feels like an old-school men’s lodge and offers catering from the Burritt Room + Tavern.
