Don’t Miss The Art of Food with XVA Gallery at The Oberoi, Dubai
The Oberoi and XVA Gallery have united for a special initiative: The Art of Food. The result of a ground-breaking creative collaboration between the signature Indian restaurant and the award winning XVA Gallery, this Indian food prepared is inspired by the colors and forms of several artworks hung in the restaurant by XVA gallery’s artists.
Upon entering the restaurant, guests will find colorful artworks aligning the walls and hung from the ceiling. They give off a nice presence amid the otherwise simple yet warm interior. We were explained that the food prepared was inspired by the shapes, textures and colors on display. It sure was. The meal was lengthy and featured several courses that were traditionally Indian but endowed with a contemporary culinary twist, as is the specialty of the restaurant’s Head Chef Saneesh. These featured a delicious banana leaf wrapped masala foie gras, served with grape coulis and kumquat marmalade, which was at once rich and aromatic; rechado spiced scallops with mango and cilantro ceviche and Solkadi foam – a slightly sweet and spicy dish, as well as pepper fried tiger prawns accompanied by fennel and spinach salad, Virgin Mary sorbet, and green apple wafer.
The ambiance was warm, comforting and peaceful and the food, which might be termed as contemporary Indian fare for each dish’s innovation and creative mix of ingredients, was exceptional. Preparation was obviously still being honed and we observed how attentively staff was to each guest’s impressions. Certainly, a dinner night out to experience.
