Haute Restaurant: Bamboo Izakaya

Bamboo Dining Room(2)

For some of the freshest sushi you’ll find on the Westside, don’t hesitate to make a reservation at the newly opened Bamboo Izakaya.

Ozumo Concepts International evolved its Ozumo Santa Monica into a more accessible Izakaya-style restaurant, revealing a Japanese-style den of indulgence.

The 5,800 square-foot space is visually stunning with bamboo accents and mood lighting and prime views of the Pacific Ocean, but it is the food that’s it true selling point.

Try the Omakase menu or order a la carte: either way, you’ll leave a satisfied customer.

The sake and bincho sashimi was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. Once you start, it will be hard to stop reveling in how perfectly fresh and excellently executed its preparation is.

Make sure sure not to leave without trying small plates like the garlic soy edamame and the blistered Brussels sprouts with wasabi vinaigrette.

On the entree front, try the Gindara, Alaskan black cod with two kinds of miso and a 36-hour marinade and the Japanese Kobe. For $21 oz. (and a 3 oz.) minimum, it’s pricey — but don’t you deserve the best?
