It was a busy week in the City of Angels, and, in particular in the serene seaside beach city of Malibu. Here is our roundup of the hautest happenings of the week.
Cindy Crawford Rides for SoulCycle Cindy Crawford and her Urban Remedy co-founder Neka Pasquale L.Ac M.S. joined SoulCycle co-founders and co-CEOs Elizabeth Cutler and Julie Rice to host a signature class at SoulCycle Malibu. After the class, riders tasted juice and nosh from Urban Remedy and socialized at the studio with supermodel Cindy.
Alexis Bittar hosts opening celebration in Malibu Beloved jeweler Alexis Bittar officially opened his Malibu Lumber Yard location with an opening fete on Thursday night. Champagne and nibbles were served, making it much more palatable for ladies to shop until they dropped.
Max Mara presents Women in Film’s 2014 Crystal + Lucy Awards The Hyatt Regency Plaza hosted some of the most glamorous and successful women in Hollywood on Wednesday evening at the 2014 Crystal + Lucy Awards. Honorees included Cate Blanchett, Kerry Washington, Rose Byrne and Eva Longoria, whom were toasted by peers including Shonda Rhimes, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Lake Bell.
Etihad Airways launches non-stop service between Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi The hot ticket of the week was an intimate bash hosted by Etihad Airways to celebrate its new non-stop service between LA and Abu Dhabi. The 35-table dinner at Beverly House was attended by the likes of Quincy Jones and Buzz Aldrin, while Harry Connick Jr. warbled a full 45-minute set. The airline also introduced “The Residence,” its new 3-room on-board VIP suite.
BEST OF THE REST: Malibu welcomed its new Mastros Beach Club on Thursday night, LAX opened its Original Farmer’s Market inside Terminal 5 and teen chef phenomenon Flynn McGarry announced a three-night only pop-up featuring a 9-course dinner this July and August.
