Shannon Allen Tries To Throw Diabetes A CURVE
On Thursday, May 29th female members of the Miami Heat family came together to win a different battle: the one to fight Type 1 Diabetes. The fundraising event was hosted by Shannon Allen, wife of Miami Heat guard, Ray Allen, whose six-year old son Walker has been diagnosed with T1D.
The event took place at the recently relocated CURVE boutique, which now spans the corner of 21st. Merchandised to perfection, a slew of summer offerings punctuate the intentionally raw space.
CURVE owner, Nevena Borissova, redecorated the place with her exceptional taste. White was a popular color throughout the store and one that in the wake of playoff buzz, didn’t last long on shelves.
In just three hours, most of the pieces had been picked over by none other than fellow Miami Heat wife, Jenine Howard, Andria Holtz, Marisa Cisneros, Cynthia Landsberger, Haute Living Magazine Associate Publisher, Sarah Mirmelli, Alicia Piazza, wife of hall-of-famer, Mike Piazza, and the like.
The guests, who were wrangled together by Miami scene staples, Jilian Sanz and Andreina Cisneros of JACS Group, came together in a similar vein: to raise funds to put an end to the search for a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
Guests sipped on Côtes de Provence import, M de Minuty rosé and nibbled on hors d’oeuvres provided by home of one of the cities most impressive gastro-experiences, Baoli. The beats of Baoli resident, DJ Ideal, kept spirits high well into the night in the midst of the NBA Eastern Conference showdown.Proceeds will be divided between the JDRF and the DRI. More than 3 million Americans have T1D, roughly 5% of diabetes sufferers in the USA.
