Haute Event: City of Hope’s Songs of Hope Benefit
It was a musically minded evening in Santa Monica on Wednesday as the recording industry gathered to attend the 10th anniversary Songs of Hope event at the House of Fair.
Attendees of this year’s June 4th event included Clive Davis, Dr. Luke, Colbie Caillat, Brian Tyler, Jimmy Jam, Lil Jon, JoJo, Avery Wilson, Matt Sorum of Guns N Roses, Sean Garrett, among others.
Songs of Hope X was emceed by Jimmy Jam of the songwriting and production duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and included intimate performances by Caillat and Wilson as well as a silent auction featuring rare and one-of-a-kind music and film experiences and autographed items.
Virtuosic producer Dr. Luke, who’s credited with writing multiple No. 1 hits for artists such as Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus, received the prestigious Clive Davis “Legend in Songwriting” Award, while film music composer Brian Tyler received the Electronic Arts Composer Award. In addition to her performance, Colbie Callait was honored with the Songs of Hope 10 Contemporary Songwriter Award.
The evening also included a Songs of Hope silent auction featuring rare and one-of-a-kind music and film experiences and autographed items, an acoustic Gibson 1928 L-1 Blues Tribute guitar signed by Paul Simon, a Takamine G320 guitar signed by The Eagles, a Gibson Les Paul Signature T Alpine White Burst guitar signed by Imagine Dragons, an Epiphone Les Paul Goldtop signed by Slash, a Pharrell-signed yellow vinyl for “Happy,” a Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH guitar signed by Jane’s Addiction, a Martin Acoustic guitar signed by Bryan Adams, which also includes a personalized message from Adams, rare photographs autographed by Holland Dozier Holland, score to “The Lego Movie” autographed by Mark Mothersbaugh, score to “Gravity” signed by Steven Price, original handwritten lyrics to “DreamWeaver” by Gary Wright, original “Say Something” sheet music signed by A Great Big World, “American Pie” sheet music signed by Don McLean and a four-person VIP scoring session experience with Chris Lennertz.
Throughout its ten-year history, Songs of Hope has raised over $3,000,000 for City of Hope’s research; City of Hope is a leading research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.
