Donny & Marie Celebrate 1,000 Shows on the Strip
Donny & Marie celebrated 1,000 shows at Flamingo Las Vegas on Thursday night. In honor of this momentous occasion, Flamingo Las Vegas Regional President Eileen Moore and Clark County Commissioner Susan Brager presented America’s favorite brother-sister duo with a cake and Key to the Las Vegas Strip on stage after their performance.
Donny & Marie opened at Flamingo Las Vegas on Sept. 9, 2008 and the worldwide response was so immediate and overwhelming that their original six-week contract was extended soon after the show opened. Now, nearly six years later, they are one of only a few entertainers in Las Vegas to accomplish the monumental milestone of performing 1,000 shows.
Throughout their time at the Flamingo, Donny & Marie have been the recipients of accolades from critics and fans alike. They have been voted by readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal as the Best Overall Show, Best Performers and Best Singers in Las Vegas, and in Oct. 2013, the Flamingo extended their contract until the end of 2014 and renamed its iconic showroom the “Donny & Marie Showroom.”
“Donny and I are incredibly blessed to have had such success with our show here at the Flamingo,” said Marie. “I never would have imagined that we would be celebrating our 1,000th performance when we first signed our original six-week engagement back in 2008.”
Added Donny: “In addition to celebrating this milestone and having the showroom at the Flamingo named after us, we were recently voted the Best Show in Las Vegas for the second time. We are so grateful to our fans for voting for us and for supporting us over the years.”
In their show at Flamingo Las Vegas, Donny & Marie share five decades of entertaining in a non-stop, 90-minute production of live music, singing and dancing. The show features some of their chart-topping hits, including “Puppy Love,” “Paper Roses,” “Morning Side of the Mountain,” “I’m Leavin’ it (All) Up To You” and “Soldier of Love.” This showcase of unmatched harmonies continues today with their number one hit, “A Beautiful Life,” from their duet album, “Donny & Marie” (2011).
