Broadway Costume Designer William Ivey Honored With ‘Jeopardy!’ Category

“Jeopardy!” will show its love to the city of New York tonight. The long running hit television show is dedicating an entire category to six-time Tony Award winning Broadway costume designer, William Ivey Long, during tonight’s program.

Broadway show

The New York based designer has created costumes for more than 65 Broadway shows including Grey Gardens, The Boy from Oz, Hairspray, The Producers, Music Man, Contact, Guys and Dolls, Crazy for You and Nine. His costumes can currently be seen on Bullets Over Broadway and Cinderella.

Though “Jeopardy!” often creates Broadway centric questions—the show dedicated entire categories to “Wicked” and “Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella” last year—this marks the first time that a category has been tailored around a specific stage designer. Quite a feat especially since the show draws in nearly 25 million viewers each week!
