Haute 100 NY Update: Tommy Hilfiger to Buy Landmark Raleigh Hotel

News | March 6, 2014

One year after buying a sprawling oceanfront home on North Miami’s Grand Beach, Tommy Hilfiger has decided to put down more roots in sunny Florida by purchasing the art deco Raleigh Hotel in South Beach.

According to Page Six, the designer plans to turn the beachfront landmark into an exclusive private club and hotel and has been in talks with the hotel’s current owners, David Edelstein and Sam Nazarian, since Art Basel in December.

“I have for a long time been planning to create a hospitality business, and the Raleigh offers a unique opportunity in one of the most important cities in the world,” Hilfiger told the publication.

Though the deal is still in the works, the designer reportedly plans to renovate the property and create a state-of-the art spa.
