Christina Aguilera is all woman and proud of it. With her trademark ruby lips, platinum blonde mane, and sultry voice, the pop powerhouse certainly commands attention. But then, why shouldn’t she? She’s one of the best-selling pop stars of all time, a five-time Grammy winner and a judge on Emmy-winning NBC show, The Voice. The 33-year-old—who not only has become engaged to longtime boyfriend Matt Rutler, but is also pregnant with her second child—sat down with us to discuss what makes her feel simply irresistible, her new fragrance, Red Sin, and why she’s feeling more passionate and empowered than ever before. We’ll give you a hint: It has more than a little to do with imminent motherhood.

Haute Living: Red is clearly your signature color, but how does “sin” come into the equation? What does this phrase mean to you?
Christina Aguilera: I love red and I think it’s more than just a color: It evokes an emotion. When you wear red, it makes you feel empowered and sexy. For me, sin is all about temptation and the power of seduction. Red Sin is a combination of those elements to make women feel irresistible.

Haute Living: How do you celebrate being a woman on a daily basis?
Christina Aguilera: For me it all starts with being authentic to yourself and comfortable with who you are.

Haute Living: How would you describe your look?
Christina Aguilera: I think my bold sense of self confidence is the element that really characterizes my personal style and has remained unchanged over the years. Talking about looks, I love change and have fun reinventing myself constantly.

Haute Living: Whose look inspires you? Who are your beauty icons and why?
Christina Aguilera: I love the old Hollywood glam look: platinum blonde hair, the perfect red lip. It’s very Marilyn Monroe and shows a pure feminine beauty.

Haute Living: Is there a beauty risk you’d like to take but haven’t?
Christina Aguilera: I am inspired by anything that makes me feel glamorous, sexy, and confident all at the same time.

Haute Living: Did you make a New Year’s resolution? If so, what was it?
Christina Aguilera: Get plenty of rest and eat well.

Haute Living: You raised $37 million for charity last year. Is giving back an important part of your life?
Christina Aguilera: I am really invested with my work with the United Nations World Food Programme. It’s a cause very important to me as a mom, as no child should ever go to bed hungry. I’m really proud of the work I do with the organization and feel really accomplished with the progress they are making.

Haute Living: What’s the best parenting tip you can offer?
Christina Aguilera: Being a working mother is not easy, but I think it helps you choose what’s important in your life. If I think about starting a new project—whether it be music, a movie or a fragrance—I always stop and think, Is this something I feel really passionate about? That way, if I’m not at home at least it’s for something I really love, and my son can look up to that.

Haute Living: What, to you, is the greatest luxury in life and why?
Christina Aguilera: Being a mother is always what makes me the happiest. There isn’t anything else that compares to spending time with Max and how happy he makes me!

Haute Living: Fill in the blank: Red is the color of ________.
Christina Aguilera: Empowerment.

Haute Living: What is one thing you cannot live without?
Christina Aguilera: My son—he changed the way I think about everything.
