Haute 100 NY Update: Tom Ford Pays Cheeky Tribute to Jay Z During London Fashion Show

Tom-Ford

Tom Ford may be known for his sleek men’s suits and chic womenswear, but the 52-year-old designer showed off his playful side yesterday during a fashion show in London. Midway through the runway show, which included a parade of sequined gowns, animal skins and neon furs, two models strutted down the catwalk wearing sequined football jerseys emblazoned with the giant letters “TOM FORD 61,” an aesthetic tribute to Jay Z.

Last year, the hip hop mogul recorded a song called “Tom Ford,” which featured the lyrics “I don’t pop Molly, I rock Tom Ford.” Jay Z also donned a similar football jersey, though without the sequins, emblazoned with the designer’s name, the year he was born, and the word MOLLY struck through.

In a nod to Jay Z’s creation that swept the nation by storm, Ford created “a knock off of a knock off” for his London fashion show.
