Haute 100 LA Update: Elon Musk’s SpaceX Launches Second Commercial Satellite
Elon Musk‘s SpaceX announced that it had deployed a commercial Thai satellite, in its second successful launch in weeks.
SpaceX’s two-stage Falcon 9 rocket made its launch from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida carrying the Thaicom 6 telecommunications satellite.
The company confirmed via Twitter that Thaicom 6 had been delivered “to a perfect orbit.”
SpaceX’s involvement in the commercial satellite launch business has an estimated worth of $190 billion; the company is now being considered by the Pentagon as a serious candidate for launching military satellites.
