The Plaza and Saks Fifth Avenue Celebrate the Holidays
Window-shopping (or actual shopping) on Fifth Avenue, and tea at The Plaza always signifies the start of the Christmas season for me. And when others start putting up trees before Thanksgiving, I like to wait until December.
So the “Snowflake Tea” at The Plaza for the third annual tree lighting (and a first glimpse of Santa) was the best way to ring in the season. After Champagne, scones and finger sandwiches in The Palm Court, it was time to walk into the main room and let the tree take center stage in the Fifth Avenue Foyer, which features a collection of artfully crafted snowflake ornaments curated especially for The Plaza by Saks Fifth Avenue.
Joining Santa was the Saks Fifth Avenue Yeti who is said to live on the roof. (If it was me, I’d live on the show floor but I guess the Yeti isn’t as into stilettos as I am.) The Plaza and Saks this year team up for more than just the tree lighting, but by demonstrating the spirit of giving with its dedicated charitable programs benefitting Volunteers of America-Greater New York, one of New York City’s oldest and most respected social service charities.
All the little girls and boys were exciting to see. Santa, including my daughter Klaudia who will be celebrating her first Christmas this year!
If you want to check out The Plaza this Christmas, I’d suggest one of their holiday packages which include accommodations in a room or suite, a Saks Gift Card and personal shopping experience, a Plaza signature snow globe, credit at The Todd English Food Hall, and most importantly a personal messenger to transport all of those Saks dresses, shoes and gifts back to the hotel.
