
George Lucas Receives Award at SFMOMA Gala
The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) presented George Lucas with its 14th annual Bay Area Treasure Award on Oct. 24. The accolade recognizes local artists and creative leaders who redefine the field of visual art. The Star Wars creator and wife Mellody Hobson attended the fete at San Francisco’s Four Seasons Hotel alongside director Phillip Kaufman and Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy. To commence the ceremony, Lucas participated in a discussion about his work in cinematic storytelling through the years. “I’m proud to be recognized by SFMOMA and this award in the Bay Area,” said Lucas. “It’s an honor to be included in the company of such esteemed artists and cultural figures.
