Benjamin Millepied is about to add “designer” to his repertoire.

The French choreographer and dancer has been tapped by Van Cleef & Arpels to create a piece for the opening party of its redesigned New York flagship.

Van Cleef has long had an association with the ballet world: the luxe line inspired another great choreographer – George Balanchine – to choreograph his work Jewels for the New York City Ballet.

Millepied, the husband of Oscar winner Natalie Portman, will be the new Director of Dance at the Paris Opera Ballet, starting in September 2014.
