The institution’s chairman of the board of trustees, Sanford Weill, will present the award on April 24, 2014. For entertainment, the great Spanish singer, Julio Iglesias, will serenade attendees. De la Renta told the Hollywood Reporter that he’s thrilled to share the night with such a close friend. “I am unbelievably honored that he will be joining me at Carnegie Hall, a place with an extraordinary soul, that for me holds a very special meaning,” he said.

The evening will commence at The Plaza Hotel and transition to the majestic Carnegie Hall. A dedicated contributor and supporter of Carnegie Hall since 1987, de la Renta is the perfect candidate for the Medal of Excellence. This award is only the seventh to be presented putting De la Renta into a group of exclusive honorees including Bill Cunningham and Bob Craft.
