With Il Mulino Out, Local Italian Restaurant Moves In
When Il Mulino abruptly pulled out of its slopeside location at the base of Aspen Mountain last spring, it left a vacancy in one of the busiest plazas in town. But now, the restaurant space, which is adjacent to the Ajax Tavern and looks at the Silver Queen Gondola, is set to be filled by Zeno Aspen, the Aspen Times reported. Zeno Colo was an Italian ski racer who won gold and silver medals in the 1950 World Championships in Aspen.
Marco Cingolani, of Justice Snow’s, is reportedly opening the restaurant. The restaurant will be more casual than its predecessor, but continue to serve Italian fare. The opening date has yet to be announced.
The Residences at the Little Nell is a fractional-ownership development, and its luxury condos are managed by Aspen Skiing Co.’s Little Nell Hotel.
