Diane von Furstenberg and Anna Wintour are waging a war against HIV! The two fashionistas have partnered with BORNFREE, a foundation created by Apax Partners CEO John Mgrue, which is dedicated to eliminating the transmission of the virus from mothers to children by 2015.

“If you do something, you can make it happen,” von Furstenberg said during the campaign’s launch on Wednesday. “It is the very beginning of the end of HIV.”

BORNFREE enlisted 23 female designers including Stella McCartney, Donatella Versace, Donna Karan, Phoebe Philo, Georgina Chapman, Keren Craig, Sarah Burton and Miuccia Prada to create clothing and accessories using prints by Kenyan artist Wangechi Mutu. The products will be available for purchase on ShopBop on Mother’s Day 2014.

“The BORNFREE campaign humanizes one of the most vital causes of our time—ensuring that the baton passed from one generation to the next is not tainted by the poison of HIV/AIDS, so that a baby begins his or her life with a fair chance of living it,” explained US Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power.
