Filson Opening Aspen Location

Outdoor retailer Filson opened its first U.S. location outside the Pacific Northwest on Friday, bringing signature luggage, leather accessories, apparel and outerwear to the outdoorsy town of Aspen. The Seattle-based store opened its first international location in London last year. The 900-square-foot store is located at 402 S. Hunter St.in downtown Aspen.

“Filson has been crafting durable goods for those who refuse to stay indoors since the Alaskan Gold Rush,” says Filson CEO Alan Kirk. “There are few places in the world with a higher concentration of outdoor enthusiasts than Colorado. We look forward to being closer to our longtime customers in this state as well as the region’s many international guests.”

Filson will host a grand opening Dec. 3 and 15 percent of all sales will benefit the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). Events on Thursday, Dec. 12 and Thursday, Dec. 19 will also benefit ACES. In addition, ACES will offer guided complimentary snowshoe tours to guests at their grand opening events. Filson will also be a business sponsor of ACES’ popular Naturalist Nights presentations throughout the 2014 winter season.
