Haute Yacht of the Week: Ocean Paradise
Many of the world’s leading architects are looking for wards to minimize their carbon footprint on the planet by using sustainable energy and green techniques in their construction. This has now expanded to the yachting world, with Benetti unveiling its newest “green” vessel at the Monaco Yacht Show.
The Ocean Paradise is a 55-beter boat that reabsorbs greenhouse gas emissions in order to limit their dispersion in the marine environment. Benetti used a brand new coating on the hull of the yacht, reducing resistance in the water and thus enhancing fuel efficiency.
For lighting, both inside and out, the boat is lit with next-generation LED lights, which are far more efficient than the usual florescent lighting.
The boat won the Rina Green Plus Prize for meeting all the criteria, which gave the boat a Green Plus certification.
