Movie Director Baz Luhrmann has just joined the creative team of Miami Beach’s Faena District. The development, which started with Argentine developer Alan Faena’s planned renovation of the Saxony Hotel, has become much bigger after the acquisition of the Versailles hotel. Now the mid-beach project promises to span from the beach to the bay on the 3400 block of Collins with a complex of new and restored buildings including an automatic parking garage by Rem Koolhaas. What the director, known for his highly stylized and visually stunning films like  Great Gatsby, Romeo + Juliet, and Moulin Rouge, bazluhrmannwill be doing for the project remains a mystery but our guess is it might just have something to do with the Faena Arts Center which will serve as a “magnet for the world’s leading filmmakers, dramatists, artists and writers.”  Those wanting to get in on the action will have to try to become members of the Faena Club which will play host to a number of pre-release screenigns, concerts, lectures and more. Of course, if you want to make sure you’re a member, you’ll need to buy at Norman Foster + Partners Faena House, one more reason to buy into this amazing property.
