He made his Broadway debut this year, and now Tom Hanks seems to have caught the play bug.

The 57-year-old two-time Oscar winner will take on The Bard at the 23rd Annual Simply Shakespeare benefit at The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles on Sept. 25.

This will be his second try at a playwright’s piece: his first, the lead in Nora Ephron’s “Lucky Guy”, earned him a Tony nomination.

Tickets for the event cost $1,500, and all proceeds benefit the SCLA, which runs arts-based veterans employment and youth employment programs for inner-city youth. The center also supports arts education in local schools as well as productions at the Los Angeles Veterans Medical Center’s Japanese Garden.

Those who will join Hanks at the reading include wife Rita Wilson, Sir Paul McCartney and William Shatner.
